Forskaren Sets the Stage for the Future of Life Science – Two-Day Inauguration with Royal Presence

May 31, 2024

Forskaren inaugurated on May 7 by Their Majesties King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden and Their Majesties King Frederik X and Queen Mary of Denmark. The day before, the concept of Forskaren for innovation across all boundaries was inaugurated with a joint ribbon-cutting on stage led by Marcus Wallenberg, Chairman of Patricia Industries, and Joel Ambré, CEO of Vectura Fastigheter, together with the tenants of Forskaren.

For two days, Forskaren was inaugurated as Stockholm's new life science center and a landmark for innovation. It becomes a gathering place where world-leading actors in life science will exchange knowledge and drive development. The concept contributes to society by creating innovation clusters for projects that strengthen Sweden's competitiveness. Here, future Nobel Prizes may be developed.

"Our investment in urban development for life science is a powerful initiative that opens doors to new collaborations and paves the way for groundbreaking innovations with the aim of saving lives. With Forskaren, we strengthen Sweden's position and global competitiveness. Together with prominent projects like The Loop, GoCo Health Innovation City, Innovation Destination Torslanda, we are shaping dynamic and innovative destinations," says Joel Ambré, CEO of Vectura.

"Innovation is about more than technology. It is about unleashing people's power, curiosity with new perspectives where both music and art have a natural place. We want to contribute to developing properties with long-term management and with a vision of being leading in creating environments that promote curiosity and creativity," continues Joel Ambré.

The inauguration days featured interesting seminars where experts provided insightful perspectives on how AI becomes an enabler for future innovations. Specially written music "New progress" by Erik Arvinder portrayed the power of innovation with cell division and pulsation performed by members of the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

Forskaren's tenants welcomed the 1,400 invited guests to their operations, and guests had the opportunity to visit the rooftop terrace with herb gardens and 220 solar panels that can provide up to 100,000 kWh per year. During the inauguration days, guests were treated to sustainable food from Urban Deli's new food concept.

Art also has an important place in realizing Forskaren's vision. The bright atrium is dominated by the 12-meter-high artwork "Livsåren" inspired by the relationship between art, science, and life. The artwork's 27,000 pulsating LEDs reflect energy and movement in the room. On the entrance floor in the Technical Museum's branch The Cell, the exhibition "Borderlands" shows the boundary between technology and human existence through science and art.
